It was an exciting sixth matchup of the season for the West Coast Bombers when they hosted the Richter City Roller Derby Convicts at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After two meetings were the Convicts were victorous, the Wellington club reaffirmed why they are currently competing in the NZ Top 10 Roller Derby Champs after they took the initial lead and then powered away to a 189-74 victory.

Convicts were up 104-42 at halftime.

Bombers spokesman Phil Murphy said Convict 'Tu High', aka Taupuruariki Brightwell, lived up to her nickname as she towered above the Bombers and scored 85 of their points.

"Great support from a solid team and some stand-out performances from 'Gnome Diggity' [Jordan Em] and 'Moose Hoof' [Rickie French].

"The Bombers continue to challenge and develop themselves, fielding first-time players into key positions to build experience.

"Kamikaze Cupcake' [Meegan Manuka] had a typically strong performance, scoring 42 points, and 'Pestilence' [Jay Newell] was dropped in at the deep end, but played remarkably well in her first competitive bout."

Murphy said the team has some exciting times away as many of their cadets are graduating into competitive roles, and they are really happy with how they are progressing.
