The local waka ama club Te Ringa Miti Tai Heke will have the opportunity to host the third race of the regional Hoe Tonga Paddla series on the Whanganui River tomorrow.
Hoe Tonga Paddla is an open series for six-person crews consisting of novice, junior (16-19) and senior paddlers.
All
the novice and junior teams must have an experienced steerer, while all entrants must be affiliated to a waka ama club and Waka Ama NZ.
The series was created to help crews prepare for the 2016 Long Distance Nationals, as well as a way to attract as many people as possible to experience the sport.
There will be 7km short courses for novices and juniors, along with the main 15km racing.
