The Laird Park Bowling Club's annual Men's Fours Invitational fundraiser is picking up steam again with a strong turnout on Sunday.

The 33rd edition of the event saw 36 teams entered, well up on the 22 from last year.

They were split into three sections - two playing at Laird Park and the third at the Victoria Bowling Club.

Players had come from Wellington, Taranaki and Dannevirke.

Proceeds of $500 from the tournament will go to Wanganui junior rugby, with one of the criteria for entering is being a former rugby player.
