Wanganui Collegiate tennis coach Leela Beattie has been selected in the New Zealand women's tennis team for matches in Australia later this month.
The 20-year-old is currently ranked fifth in New Zealand. She has made the national side once before as a teenager and played at the Fed Cup buthas since battled injury.
This season, Beattie has been flying to Auckland on Fridays to play in the top women's competition in the country. She said the news of selection was great but she was still battling injury having broken her hand recently.
Beattie came to Wanganui last year from Christchurch and joined Wanganui Collegiate School as a professional tennis coach. She coaches WCS squad teams along with development squads.
