Porsche has made a clear commitment to factory and customer racing at its "Night of Champions" Motorsport Gala on Saturday signing Wanganui's Earl Bamber as works driver.
Bamber (24) joins Brendon Hartley as the second New Zealander to secure a works drive.
Bamber will bolster Porsche Motorsport's GT squad inthe upcoming season and pilot a 911 RSR in the North American Tudor United Sportscar Championship.
After winning the Porsche Motorsport International Cup Scholarship as the greatest talent from the international brand trophy series, Bamber was supported during the 2014 season with funding of 200,000 ($320,000).
In the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, the New Zealander defended his title with a commanding victory.
At the season finale of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship he stood in for the injured works driver Richard Lietz and gained his first racing experience at the wheel of the 911 RSR.
