Active Physio Wanganui has one final opportunity to showcase their progress this season when the team travel away this weekend to play their final Hawke Cup cricket match against Horowhenua Kapiti at Paraparaumu.
Both teams have been outclassed by the top-of-the-table sides, but both had outright wins against Wairarapa anda positive result for Wanganui this weekend will put them fourth in the competition - a pass mark for this group and a great way to finish the season going into next summer.
Coach Rod Bannister has stuck with the nucleus of the squad that had committed to attending training over the entire season wanting to play every week for Wanganui with one eye on the 2015/16 season.
Bannister said one player who was very tough to leave out was Chris Sharrock who hasn't done much wrong across the board. However, with Brett Cameron returning to the squad he is first cab off the rank as far as keepers go. Another player that was looked at very closely was Matthew Boswell, however Bannister decided to stick with his core group of players that have been involved for the entire season and shown commitment.
Trav Bartels was another player considered, but with his lack of recent cricket he could not command a spot and despite Max Carroll scoring a club 50 over the weekend, he was overlooked for this match.
