Sarya Lower (girls 14-year age group) was second in the 100m freestyle, while Abraham and Earles (10-year) won gold and silver respectively in the 50m butterfly.
Coach Andy McLay said the results from the Wellington meet was largely down to the environment developing within the club and the arrival of an assistant coach who handles the juniors. She happens to be his wife Anna McLay and her work is producing results.
"We've come from no juniors not so long ago to a group who are rapidly developing into competitive swimmers in their age groups," Andy McLay said yesterday. "It's the culture being built at the club and these swimmers are buying into it. They are feeding off each other's successes and wanting it for themselves and that's lifting the bar.
"We had a week-long training camp in Hawera earlier in the month and much of the success in Wellington came out of that. Not so much for the older swimmers who are wanting to peak for the nationals in summer, but the younger ones really benefited."
Andy McLay said Schimanski and Forlong deserved their spots in the All Stars team, while he felt for Lower who only just missed out on selection.
"Sarya had a sensational meet racing in a really tough age group. She is only 14 and was next on the list for a start with the All Stars. She's a definite next season."
