It was a big time result for the Lisa Ahern kennels at Hatrick on Wednesday when she provided the quinella in the $7,000 New Zealand Racing Series (NZRS) Novice final.

All NZRS races held throughout the country are series that reward the Breeders of the placed runners.

Half of the total stake is paid to the breeder of those placed finishers.

In this instance Ahern, along with her husband Brendon Cole, picked up the bonus Breeders payments after Bigtime Lady prevailed in 30.48s, while Bigtime Sweetie wound up 1.5 lengths behind her.

The first of the Opawa Racing contenders, Opawa Racer was just a head further behind in third.

Ahern and Cole unleashed a number of greyhounds that carried the Bigtime naming prefix during this series and the majority of them can be confidently followed as they are likely to quickly advance through the grades.

Two of those won support races on Wednesday's card while the kennel is again strongly represented in Monday's Manawatu $8,000 NZRS Graduation final.

Four of their greyhounds - Bigtime Jason, Bigtime Rise, Spring Allegro and Allegro Beaty - will contest the Race 12, 457m final.

As usual this evening's Hatrick racing sees strong representation of runners from the powerful kennel racing as they seriously challenge the perineal national trainers' premiership winner, the John McInerney kennels for the lead on the trainer's table.

After Wednesday's racing Ahern had trained 157 winners for the current season, which was just one win behind the McInerney kennel.

Leading Ahern prospects for tonight includes Allegro Class, Smash That and Allegro Gun in the Race 5 open class 305m sprint.

Effective Power has drawn nicely in Race 4, as has Frappuncino in the Race 10, C3/4 520m event.

Thunderation can make her presence felt in the Race 11, 305m, while Cranky Pants and Allegro Lass hold sound looking claims in the last race 305m dash.
