IT WAS another big double for Palmerston North trainer Lisa Ahern at the Wanganui Greyhounds Christmas at the Races on Friday evening.

Ahern's charge, Fashion and Fame, would back up from its derby win at Hatrick Raceway a few weeks ago to also take out the $40,000 Liquorland Wanganui Spion Rose Cup final at the elite level over 520m.

Fashion and Fame leapt from the one trap and went coast-to-coast just under 30 seconds later, while Cawbourne Crouch from Marton trainer Matt Roberts and Fast Archer (Calum Weir) secured the minor placings.

Ahern was likely to have a strong grip on the $13,000 www.racingtips.co.nz Dash For Cash 305m final in the last race of the night, with the litter-mates Allegro Class and Allegro Chaser the leading contenders.

And so it proved with Allegro Chaser getting up in 17.40s over Call Me Ralph (G & J Clarke) and Ahern-trained Elle Packer.

"Lisa bred that dog [Chaser], so she and her partner Brendon Cole were very excited about that one too," said Bridget Belsham, manager of the Wanganui Greyhound Racing Club.

It was another successful festive season event for the club, which also held a rare 12-race Saturday evening meeting, where both Ahern and Roberts had three winners in another good showing. Belsham was happy with the turnout.

"We had a couple of busy nights - we packed out."
