The bulk of the leading New Zealand bred staying talent will be on display this evening at Hatrick.

They will chase after an $11,000 stake over the extreme 755m distance (Race 9).

The field is an interesting blend of hardened, experienced stayers being taken on by promising, up-and-coming types.

Leading the experienced group is the hardy grand lady of Kiwi stayers Shandell.

Sure, this Arch Lawrence-trained winner of $199,547 is in the twilight of her outstanding career, but she still commands the upmost of respect, as seen by her outstanding Hatrick staying record of five wins and two minor placings from her seven races over this 755m journey.

Her litter brother Jazzboy Jack never reached the staying heights his sister has, however he can be expected to be sighted grinding away stoutly throughout over this trip.

The siblings have a younger half-brother engaged here.

Augello is still learning all about the staying game, and although he has won over 650m on his Cambridge home track, the step up to this evening's distance is likely to be a learning experience for him.

Thrilling Flo is a genuine exciting staying prospect from the high winning Karen Walsh strike rate kennels.

She has only lined up in two staying races, with both of them resulting in emphatic Cambridge 650m wins.

Thrilling Flo is likely to attempt to lead this evening's field all the way.

Foxton trainers Carol Morris and her daughter Pippa Lammas has accepted with Phantom Way.

She generally settled back in her fields from where she unleashes a powerful finish.

Expect her to use those tactics in this event.

The field is completed by three Canterbury trained stayers.

Top conditioners Dave and Jean Fahey are stepping up Translator to an extreme trip for the first time.

She has been sighted hitting the line strongly in her Addington 645m assignments.

Goldstar Jagger is a proven stayer over the longer journeys for his trainers Steve and Bonnie Evans - expect this fella to be doing his best work at the business end here.

His kennelmate Goldstar Coco is also proven over the extreme distances and she appeals as the potential combo's booster in this event.

The anticipated scenario for the judge Jack Cooper to possibly sort out is for Thrilling Flo having to fend off the powerful finish that is likely to be delivered by Shandell.
