Picking your own berries is currently not an option at Windermere Berry Farm.

People hoping to pick their own berries at Whanganui's Windermere Berry Farm are out of luck.

The farm has temporarily stopped its "pick your own" (PYO) option.

"Due to an unfortunate rise in theft these past few days, Windermere Berry Farm will be ceasing PYO berries until further notice," the business posted on its Facebook page.

"We are closing PYO until we can develop a system that reduces theft."

Windermere owner Tony Boswell was not available for comment.
