"It's open to trucks, cars, motorbikes, tractors, Soapbox Derby carts - basically anything with wheels. There will be a lot of vintage vehicles because it's part of Vintage Weekend and we have some truck companies coming."
Other entertainment includes a bouncy castle, truck rides and carnival rides.
People participating in Whanganui Rocks can look out for hidden Wheels in Wanganui rocks which will give them free entry to the event.
"We have kept entry prices down so it's an affordable event for families," Mrs Teal said.
"We're still looking for anyone who can support us in any way, such as with trophies or giveaways."
Wheels in Wanganui is at the Wanganui Racecourse from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, January 21. Entry is $2 for adults, $1 for children. More information is on the Wheels in Wanganui Facebook page.
