Three months into the job and Sandor Chernoff and Ange Beagley are gaining traction delivering a new Ministry of Education-funded, Ministry of Social Development-written initiative.
The pair are the newly appointed "Education-to-Employment" brokers' for the Whanganui-Rangitīkei-Ruapehu regions working out of AGC Training, the Whanganui company contracted to deliver the programme.
"Our task is to expose students to career opportunities and pathways to work and improve transitions from school to work, particularly to the skilled vocations," Chernoff said.
"We are also aligning future employees with future employers. We hope to do this by working with all the 14 secondary schools and Year 9-13 students, businesses, industry and ITPs in our regions, strengthening those relationships, connecting secondary students to future work via school-wide or individual transition planning, and collaborating across the network of Education-to-Employment (E2E) professionals and organisations.
"We can also support schools with planning and implementation of career fairs and worksite experiences, or run our own events. We are also planning a mentor initiative for school leavers in their first year of work/apprenticeships, 2021," Chernoff said.
