All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Jigsaw Whanganui, a social service that offers home-based social work, family and whānau programmes, family harm programmes and young parent support.
More than $140,000 has been raised for Jigsaw Whanganui during the event’s decade-long tenure.
Goldsworthy said the support of the community had allowed the event to continue.
“Jigsaw is a great organisation to do it for because they help so many families in Whanganui,” he said.
“Some [participants] support Jigsaw because that is their way of giving back to what it’s done to help.”
He hoped this weekend’s weather and tide would be more favourable than at last year’s event.
“Hopefully, with the sunshine out there this weekend and not too much wind, it should be a great day,” he said.
“It’s looking better. Turn of the tide is about 12 o’clock, so there’ll be a slow start; but then there’s a 3m drop in tide, so towards the end it will probably speed up.”
To celebrate the occasion, $10,000 will be distributed to the top 10 winners and spot prizes will be given.
The event starts at 1pm at the bridge. The $10 tickets can be bought at the Plumber Dan premises at 179 Victoria Ave.
