The existing Midtown Motor Inn buildings will make way for a new development on the site.
A new look is on the way for the Midtown Motor Inn site in Victoria Ave.
Whanganui District Council principal planner Hamish Lampp confirmed resource consent was issued in January for redevelopment of part of the site.
The redevelopment will involve demolition of all the existing buildings which include a
tavern, restaurant and motel.
The consent is for redevelopment of part of the site at the western end, with a single-storey restaurant to be built and carparking at the rear.
"The balance of the site is to be developed at a future stage; this element is not detailed in the consent application just approved," Mr Lampp said.
