Whanganui Women's Network is the beneficiary of money raised from the popular Carols by Candlelight held at Virginia Lake in December.

Wanganui North Rotary Club's donation of $2000 was recently presented to Women's Network chairwoman Christina Emery by committee chairman Phil Walker.

"The 2018 event was possibly one of the best attended for many years, with good weather and an active digital promotional campaign being a contributing factor," Walker said.

He added that Carols by Candlelight has been a regular event at for more than 30 years and "tens of thousands of dollars have been distributed into the community to dozens of worthy causes over that time."

About 2500 people turned out for the event last year and enjoyed a night of singing led by Tim Davies, the Wanganui Community Choir and accompanied by Brass Whanganui

The Whanganui Women's Network has existed since 1986 and is based in the Ladies Rest building in St Hill St offering personal support to women and their families.
