Ruby and Emma, the SPCA dogs who starred in Saturday's feature about rescue dogs, went to a new home on Monday — together.
Whanganui SPCA Centre Manager Francie Flis is delighted.
"A local couple came in over the weekend looking for a dog. He loved Ruby and she loved Emma. And the two dogs love each other, so they decided to take both. Their property was perfect for the two dogs", she said.
Both dogs have both spent time at three different SPCAs looking for their forever home.
Emma had a trial that didn't work out while no-one had expressed any interest in Ruby in seven months.
Neither dog was suited to sharing a home with cats or little dogs.
"But they've been hanging out since they came here and they get along really well. That they can go on their new adventure together, with an experienced large dog family, is the perfect outcome," said Flis.

The Chronicle's article about the volunteers and agencies giving dogs a second chance has been widely shared on social media and the SPCA received calls about the pair of dogs from as far away as Auckland.
More adoptions are likely as a result of these enquiries.
