Whanganui cafe burglary: Police appeal for public’s help to identify person

Police are seeking to identify someone in relation to a burglary at the Virginia Lake Cafe in Whanganui.

The cafe on Great North Rd was burgled between midnight and 4am on February 28, with police responding at about 8.30am when a staff member reported the incident.

One person was arrested and charged with burglary after police executed a search warrant at a Whanganui East property, where a number of the cafe’s items were recovered and returned.

Constable Abel Takiari said Whanganui police wanted to identify a person who could help with investigation inquiries.

“We believe the person in this photograph can assist us further. Police are asking for any help to identify this person,” Takiari said.

A 20-year-old man, who was already arrested, is due to reappear in Whanganui District Court on July 7.
