The stacks of goods heading off to Whanganui.

Everything from pet food to fridges has been donated to the flood stricken people of Edgecumbe by Whanganui residents.

Wayne and Gail Pointon, who arranged for a truck and trailer of goods to be sent to the Bay of Plenty town, want to thank locals for their generosity.

Mrs Pointon said they got "clothes, blankets, pillows, furniture, beds, toys, books, fridges, kitchen appliances, cutlery, plates and food.

"[We got] pet food, someone even thought of the chickens.

"We were overwhelmed how generous and kind people were, going and buying new towels, flannels etc.

The goods, when sorted in the Bay of Plenty, will be distributed through Salvation Army, the Red Cross and other organisations.

The couple said thanks should also go to "Mason from Sharp As Linehaul Ltd who delivered the truck and trailer load of donated goods to Crew Community Resources Whakatane on Monday to distribute to the families of Edgecumbe.
