You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel.

A driver legged it after the car he was driving lost a wheel on Alma Rd in Gonville.

The incident, which is understood to involve a stolen car, happened about 4.15pm on Tuesday, July 24, on Alma Rd between Moore Ave and Collins St.

A police spokeswoman said police received reports of a vehicle being revved and a wheel falling off. The driver had fled the scene when police arrived.

A woman, who asked not to be named, said she witnessed the incident.

"The car did a big skid and the wheel came off the rear axle," she said.
