Ōhakune arrests
Two people face charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after a serious assault in Ōhakune. Two visitors to the town were attacked in Thames St in the early hours of Sunday, October 7, Ōhakune Police Sergeant Mike Craig said.
Armistice service
The Te Waru o Noema
celebrations at Rātana Pā will include a church service at 11am on November 11. It will mark 100 years since the signing of the armistice that ended World War I on the western front.
Immunisation call
Whanganui District Health Board is reminding people to remain up to date with their shots. Immunising against serious diseases such as measles, whooping cough and most cancers caused by HPV is vital for long-term health, the board says.

Kiwifruit an option
Farmers may like to convert part of their farms to kiwifruit because horticulture is an emerging economic force, Bayleys Realty Group says. Horticultural exports are forecast to rise 13 per cent next year, the Ministry for Primary Industries says, with most of the increase from apple and kiwifruit sales.
