How rates compare
Whanganui ranks third on the Taxpayers' Union's 2018 league table of local government rates in the Manawatu-Whanganui region.
Manawatu District Council tops the table with an average rate of $2970 followed by Palmerston North City Council ($2470) and Whanganui District Council ($2464).

$6000 for trust
The Raetihi Community Charitable Trust has received a $6000 award from the latest Heartland Community Funding round. Established in 2014 by King Country Energy, the Heartland Community Fund supports initiatives committed to a safer, healthier, sustainable and more connected community.
As part of its takeover from King Country Energy, Trustpower committed to continuing the fund for at least the next five years. It will be renamed the Trustpower Heartland Community Fund and will offer three funding rounds each year, with applications for the next one open on November 1.
