Patea's Bhavik Patel bowling in the final of the 2017 Whanganui IPL. The two-day tournament returns for it's second year this weekend.

The cricket season will wrap up again with the second annual Sports Emporium Cricket Whanganui IPL Twenty20 Cup at Victoria Park on Saturday.

Introduced last season, the IPL is a Twenty20 tournament for the NZ Indian cricket community and their clubs.

The success of the eight-team tournament saw the creation of the Wicket Warriors Whanganui CC, made up of social players in town, who after taking part in a formal cricket structure entered a team in the Bullocks Premier 2 club competition this summer.

This year's tournament has been reduced to six teams, all returning from 2017.

Defending champions Gujarat Lions (Patea) are back, as are the runnersup Wellington Fateh.

The Warriors will play the Sikhs, Fateh and the Lions.
