Twenty-nine homes in Whanganui are without power after trees got stuck in power lines overnight on Wednesday.

This comes after 40 homes were without power earlier on Wednesday due to the strong winds.

Twenty-nine customers lost power at 1.41am on Thursday.

Power is expected to be restored around 2pm on Thursday.
