It's a particularly strong field of stayers who will contest this evening's $4,620 The Rock 95.2FM 645m staying event (Race 9).

The field is headed by the Karen Walsh-prepared star stayer Dusty Gambler, who returns to Hatrick after he comfortably led home a top field of stayers in his last start Cambridge 650m assignment.

Dusty Gambler is seeking to maintain his unbeaten track record having won all four of his 755m races – two of them Group – at this venue.

This will be his first look at the 645m distance here and he is required to exit from the tricky five trap.

Trainer Matt Roberts certainly has the fire power in this event to test the favourite, having accepted with six stayers.

His 520m Group 1 winning greyhound Cawbourne Krusty has quickly adapted to 645m racing, as seen by her recent bold 37.79s win.

Cawbourne Trixy demolished a handy field of stayers when easily winning over 660m at the Manawatu Raceway on Monday.

She has drawn to feature again (trap 2).

Quistis Bale is likely to contest the early pace, like she did in last Friday's 645m event, prior to been run down late.

Cawbourne Taylor can inject value into the minor combos from her one trap draw.

As expected, Nature's Gent stylishly prevailed in last Friday's main 520m event when winning the race in 30.26s.

The Angela Turnwald-trained current New Zealand Cup title holder has drawn to serve up a repeat dose (trap 2) in the $4,735 Happy Birthday Andrew Williamson open class 520m (Race 10).

Ask King Jeff and Bigtime Wendle from the powerful Lisa Cole kennels are the likely main challengers to him.

The open class sprinters line up in the $2,860 J P Print 305m sprint (Race 4), where the Cole-trained Sir Duggie is seeking to claim his third consecutive Friday 305m victory.

He got his 17.40s win last Friday from trap four, which is the same trap he'll leap away from this evening.

His kennelmate Bigtime Blue can feature from his trap one draw, while the stake earning claims held by vastly experienced Hypocritical for trainer Turnwald can never be lightly dismissed over this 305m dash.
