More than 30 homes in Whanganui are without power this morning after a tree fell on to power lines.

The tree in Rees St fell just after 9.30am on Tuesday, cutting power to 34 properties in Durie Hill.

Powerco crews are currently on site, with power expected to be restored around 2pm on Tuesday.
