Wanganui Collegiate School headmaster Chris Moller has resigned.

He is leaving to be the principal of Queen Elizabeth College in Palmerston North.

Mr Moller has been at the school since the first term of 2014.

In December Mr Moller admitted a charge of drink driving.

In a statement announcing his leaving, Mr Moller said "it has been a privilege to lead the school as headmaster.

"It has been extremely busy period, and I am looking forward to moving on to a fresh challenge, using the experience and skills developed over my tenure.

"I am proud of what we have achieved in the modernisation of the school's systems and structures.

"The school roll has grown significantly, and I am confident I can leave the school on a sound footing and in good shape for its next phase" Mr Moller said.

Mr Moller leaves next month and his new role commences at the beginning of Term 3.

Chair of the Board of Trustees Brad Gay thanked Mr Moller for his contribution towards reshaping the school.

"Chris has led the school through the modernisation of systems and improvement of administration through integration.

"He oversaw the development of compliance systems, the introduction of an elected board of trustees, and helped to upskill the staff on the new requirements.

"He can leave in the knowledge that the school is running smoothly, as our recent ERO review released in May last year, confirmed," Mr Gay said.
