A vehicle has rolled and landed in a horse paddock after a single vehicle crash at Whangaehu, south of Whanganui, this morning.

The male driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was uninjured when the vehicle rolled after hitting a street lamp on the intersection of State Highway 3 and Whangaehu Beach Rd.

Police Constable Ben Gower said it was lucky the car did not hit a tree.

"Cars always lose against trees but lampposts are a little more forgiving."

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
