Threatening Facebook post lands Whanganui woman in court

A nasty Facebook message had consequences for a Whanganui woman.

Making threats using a text message service landed a Whanganui woman in court.

Nicole Louise Smith appeared in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday on charges of intent to intimidate and threatening to harm.

Judge Dugald Matheson said the threats were sent in a private message.

"She threatened to smash her head in," Judge Matheson said.

Defence lawyer Anna Brosnahan said a guilty plea could be entered and Smith's previous history was accepted.

"Yes, she has some history but nothing significant," Ms Brosnahan said.

Judge Matheson convicted Smith and remanded her for "possible sentencing" on October 3.

"Performance on supervision will assist me in my decision on a sentence. Do restorative justice and do supervision ... it will be a good thing for you."
