ALL SMILES: The Suzuki Girls.

The thrills and spills came thick and fast yesterday as a crowd of more than 8000 enjoyed Wanganui's traditional Boxing Day Cemetery Circuit bike races.

Despite several crashes, there were no serious injuries as riders dusted themselves off and carried on racing.

Promoter Alan Willacy said the event went without a hitch.

"A great day - the weather was brilliant and the crowd was probably one of the largest we've had in recent years," he said.

"The racing was fierce and as exciting as street circuits can get, and while a few came off all riders walked away relatively unscathed.

And despite the hot sun and plenty of beer, there were no issues among an enthusiastic crowd. "They were extremely well behaved," Willacy said.
