Queues spilled out of the Grand Hotel doors on Wednesday night, all in anticipation for the Whanganui Women in Business launch party.
The networking group, open to all women interested in business, has been in the making for the past month and on Wednesday night the organisation held its firstofficial event.
Chamber of Commerce chief executive Marianne Archibald, one of 10 key organisers, said 150 tickets were sold and about 100 more were interested but sadly missed out.
"The night was an overwhelming success. I think next time we will have to find a bigger venue," Ms Archibald said.
Whanganui business consultant Denise Scott-Lister was the guest speaker.

She spoke about the importance of networking to grow yourself, your business and to help grow other people.
"Networking always happens outside of your comfort zone.
"Sixty per cent of people hate networking because either they don't like talking to strangers, they don't like the idea of selling themselves or they don't like asking people for help."
