Nga Tawa Diocesan School celebrates their 125th anniversary. Photographer Bevan Conley went along to have a look.

FORMER pupils and staff travelled from as far away as England for Nga Tawa School's 125th jubilee celebrations.

The Marton girls' school played host to more than 400 old girls and former staff for a weekend of reminiscing, a formal dinner and dance, sports day, school tours, and a church service conducted by the Anglican Bishop of Wellington, Justin Duckworth.

The oldest former student at the jubilee was Gloria Fraser of Palmerston North, who started at Nga Tawa in 1936. Another former student, Esme Parker, started in 1937 and came from Australia for the event.

Chairwoman of the organising committee, Alison Watters, said she was delighted by the "amazing" turn-out.

"We are very, very happy that so many old girls wanted to come back and see their old school."
