CELEBRATION: Chelsea Croot, 9 and Te Ariki Staples-Hara,9 enjoyed their kai while exhibiting their art at Durie Hill School on Thursday.
After a term of studying local history, geography and science, Durie Hill School children hosted their families for a celebratory art exhibition and hangi last week.
Principal Geoff Simes said Durie Hill students have done a lot of social science and geographical exploration this term and the children have depicted
their learning with paintings to display to their whanau and community.
"They have been learning about local history and we are celebrating puanga with a hangi for families to come and share some kai and view the work."
Hundreds of people packed in to the school hall to escape the rain and enjoy the hangi food which was perfectly cooked hangi pit prepared in the school grounds.
