Whanganui cricket umpires will have the rule book thrown at them next week with the arrival of former international adjudicator Tony Hill.
The former big match overseer is now New Zealand Cricket's head umpire coach and will host a two day seminar at Victoria Park on Wednesday and Thursday.
CricketWanganui umpire manager and area training officer Cliff Tootell said Hill would be focusing on new rules recently introduced and on general housekeeping for umpiring.
"Tony is a vastly experienced international umpire who has also been coaching for many years and his input here next week will be invaluable," Tootell said.
"We are fortunate in Whanganui and we're bucking the national trend. While others struggle to recruit and retain umpires we have had 12 on the books for sometime now and they've stayed. We also hope to recruit more through the season this summer.
"Tony arrives on Wednesday and will host a training session from about 3pm into the evening and then again on Thursday from about 8am until 10.30am before he flies back to Auckland," Tootell said.
