"We always enjoy going up there, most of the boys from both teams have played with and against each other so there's no hidden secrets.
"There's no dominant sides, if you look at the scores they're all pretty low, there's not a lot of tries scored."
While Ruapehu have 28 five-pointers so far, their figures are a little more ordinary if subtracting the 11 scored in the 80-0 mauling of Utiku on April 5.
With 16 successful kicks, Pirates linchpin first-five Denning Tyrell is tied with Border's Bobo Ulukuta as most prolific goalkicker so far in 2014, while Pirates winger Clive Stowers has been very productive out wide with seven tries in five games, although Ruapehu veteran centre Logan Vaughan is only one behind him.
Pirates remain the most 'successful' team against a dominant Ruapehu in the past two seasons a 16-13 win in Ohakune in 2012 was followed by a 16-16 draw at Spriggens Park in the Round 1 last year, before Pirates had what Morris called a "dreadful" performance in Round 2, losing 28-6 at Ohakune in what proved a turning point in form to get them to the premier final.
"We can always get ourselves up, both teams, to play each other," he said.
"Winning the crucial moments, get the set piece sorted out, and defend your line."
Week 7 will start early this evening as Marton travels to Dallison Park to play Border at 7.15pm, following on from the curtainraiser between the club's senior teams.
Held at the request of Border due to the start of the duck hunting season, last year it was Wanganui Car Centre Kaierau who agreed to the evening fixture, which is the only regular night match on the Wanganui rugby calender.
Border capitalised on Kaierau's fumbles to win 28-8.
Marton coach Cornel Mason said Border were also accommodating Marton's request to have both premier and senior matches this evening so their club could save on the costs of travelling vans.
While matches under lights are a rarity for local club players, they do train in the evenings so the conditions are still a "natural" for them, Mason said.
"We're looking forward to it, something different playing at night.
"Fingers crossed, most of our night shift guys are available. And fingers crossed, we don't get a backlash from them losing to Ratana.
"It's unique, there's going to be a bit of moisture and wet. But in saying that, you're going to end up with those [dropped ball] errors anyway."
Marton should be full strength, including their Block NZ reality television start, Andy Walker, who after some reluctance in the position is now making a go of it at prop.
Speaking of television, Toyota Grassroots Rugby will be filming the match for Sky TV.
In the other games, the 4th vs 5th clash between hosts Taihape and Dave Hoskins Carrier Marist will be crucial at Memorial Park.
Harvey Round Motors Ratana will defend the Grand Hotel Challenge Shield at the Pa against cellar-dwellers Kaierau.
