Waka crews continue to be the best on prognostic time, as once again senior master women's competitor Anne Kauika finished the strongest in the June event of the 2014 winter series on the Whanganui River yesterday morning. Also last month's winner, Kauika's finishing time of 37.17 minutes on the 6kmcourse was 89.85 per cent of the international standard for her craft.
Second place went to Anna Te Rei and Tahi Nepia, representing Waka-Tai Tonga 41 Outrigger Canoe Club, who finished in 35.14 minutes (89.45 per cent).
Best finishers among the rowing boats were the Aramoho club's Luke Watts and Hugh Pawson, whose 22m 55s time was 82.91 per cent of their prognostic time.
In total, there were 22 entries for the second race of the season, down on the 29 which took part in May.
There was one visiting crew from Wellington Rowing Club and the four of Joshua Blackmore, Griffin Hunt, Brook Walker and Jesse Lucas finished fifth overall.
