The Wanganui Roller Hockey Club skated its way to two golds at a provincial tournament at the East End Skate Rink in New Plymouth.
The youth and division two teams won their respective grades to take gold at the weekend, while the premier side faltered early to finish third offour teams in the top grade.
The tournament featured teams from Wellington, Taranaki, Papatoetoe and Wanganui, although Wellington did not field a youth side.
Premier midfielder Ryan Fitness said the youth team did best, winning all four of their matches. They played Taranaki and Papatoetoe twice, while the division two side won three of their four games to take gold.
"The youth team played really, really well winning all of their games and, while the division two side did win gold, they did drop a match," Fitness said yesterday.
"The premier side didn't do that well, though. We got beaten 11-4 by Wellington, but improved to go down by only a goal to both Taranaki and Papatoetoe. And then, in the play-off for third and fourth, we beat Papatoetoe, so ended up third."
