West Coast Bomber Mel Deacon, aka Killer Doll, calls off a jam after racking up a large amount of points during her team's big comeback at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.
The West Coast Bombers belief that Tauranga's Atomic Bombs would give them a strong challenge at Jubilee Stadium proved accurate as the home side came from behind to win a thriller 155-153 on Saturday.
Facing a squad from the Mount Militia Derby Crew who are ranked close to them nationally, the Bombers were hit hard early and trailed by 60 points at one stage, being 108-60 down by halftime.
The Bombers rallied but still trailed 153-147 approaching the end of the contest.
"We got it on the last jam," said team member Emma Camden, aka Crystal Crush-Her.
"Just really pleased with the win because we knew they were going to be more our match." It was the first ever meeting between the two leagues, and the Bomber's fifth win from eight meetings this season.
The Bombers will head to Napier for their next matchup on August 26, followed by a home double header on the October 7 weekend, before opening up for further Cadet training.
