Concrete retaining panels are being put up along a section of the Whanganui River bank as repairs on the Anzac Parade slip continue.

Flooding in 2015 washed away part of the walkway road along State Highway 4 near the City Bridge and repairs have been ongoing several months.

NZ Transport Agency regional transport system manager Ross I'Anson said the concrete panels would be erected in stages and back filled with an aggregate which will be compacted.

Once completed contractors will begin restoring the walkway and road.

The repairs are expected to be completed by June next year.
