It is something that city folks take for granted but communities along the Whanganui River Rd have been longing for a recycling facility.

Now they have one.

Ranana School has taken receipt of a recycling trailer which will be available to residents in Pipiriki, Jerusalem, Ranana and Matahiwi.

"It's an awesome initiative that is bringing our community together and helping us look after our environment at the same time," Siobhan Marshall, of Tamaūpoko Community Trust, said.

"This trailer shows what can happen when organisations and communities collaborate,"
The Tamaūpoko community have worked with the Horizons Regional Council and other agencies to provide the new trailer.

"Tamariki at Ranana School are really excited about their recycling programme and I think they will lead the community in making sure it is well supported," says Marshall.
