An unconfirmed eleven records were broken at the Central Districts sport stacking tournament in Whanganui over the weekend.
More than 50 competitors, aged 6-60, from all over the North Island descended on Wanganui Girls College on September 10. The competitors included several members of the national sport stacking team,the Black Stacks, as well as a record number of novice stackers.
Nine members of the Black Stacks were at the competitions. The team will head to Taiwan in April to compete in the 2017 world sport stacking championships.
The nine include Jasmine Anthony from Whanganui and Caleb Arthur from Turakina alongside fellow Black Stacks Nathan Carter (Wellington), Ben Flighty (Feilding), Ashley Foster (Auckland), Richard Foster (Auckland), Alan Potter (Auckland), Joel Potter (Auckland) and Caleb Smith (Wainuiomata).
The Central Districts competition was made up of six events including three individual, two double and one team relay.
Video footage and results will be verified in the United States to confirm the eleven records.
