This car was stolen from outside a Whanganui property last Thursday night.

A Whanganui caregiver is asking for the return of a wheelchair that was in her stolen car.

The chair was custom made for 18-year-old Cory Souness and his caregiver would like local people to keep a lookout for it.

"I'm not worried about the car," said the woman, who does not wish to be named.

The 1992 Nissan Pulsar was stolen from outside a house in Harrison St between 5pm and 7.30pm last Thursday.

"The chair has green armrests and side panels - it is quite distinctive.

"We have another wheelchair on loan but it is not very comfortable for Cory because it is too small and the other one was made especially for him.

"It had a brand-new battery and tyres as well."

The registration number of the stolen car is UQ9985 and it is painted black with red pinstripes along the sides.
