Rachel Māia will go for the world title tonight.
Whanganui's Rachel Māia has qualified for her paraclimbing division's final at the IFSC world championships in Austria later tonight, New Zealand time.
The 35-year-old Māia, formally Carter, climbs without using her left leg, and made the Top 4 of the WRP2 grade at the event in Innsbruck, so those Para-athletes
will climb again.
"Only the Top 4 in my category went through," Māia said.
"Thankfully, I fought hard and managed take a rare top to join the only three other athletes who 'Topped' in finals.
"This meant I just barely knocked a local Austrian athlete out of a spot in the finals."
