There have been some personnel changes within the New Zealand Opera School following the death of board chairman Bryan Wyness.
Donald Trott has been appointed to take over the role of chairman while Jonathan Alver has been named as the new director of the Opera School, a position he will hold jointly with Mr Trott for at least the next year.
Mr Trott said he wants to ensure Mr Alver has first absorbed the way the Opera School functioned.
Originally from Britain, Mr Alver studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and has more than 25 years experience in theatrical, screen, production and direction in the Britain, United States and New Zealand.
After directing television shows Shortland Street and Go Girls, Mr Alver said it is now time for him to give something back to New Zealand Opera.
