One person dead and another seriously injured after single car crash at Maxwell near Whanganui

A man has died and a second person has serious injuries following a crash on Huxley Road at Maxwell this morning.

The crash was reported shortly after 11am and involved a car hitting a power pole.

Huxley Road at the intersection with SH3 was closed as a result of the crash and reopened at around 3.30pm this afternoon.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the accident.

The name of the deceased has yet to be released by police.
