Michael Neil is the newest member of the Horsley Christie legal team in Whanganui.

Mr Neil was born and raised in Taranaki before going to Victoria University to complete his legal studies.

For the last four years he has worked as a lawyer for a Hawera firm advising clients on a wide of range of property matters, trusts, wills and estates.

He said during that time he developed a real affinity for the first home buyers (having been one himself) and said he has enjoyed helping clients buy their first home with Kiwisaver while trying to make the process as a stress-free as possible.

"I'm looking forward to the challenges of practicing law in a new and bigger city and building great relationships with new clients, local businesses and other professionals," Mr Neil said.

He joins Horsley Christie as a staff solicitor and said he was excited by the opportunity of working in such an established and well respected law firm.

"They're a great bunch of people and there's plenty of expertise to draw from."

As well as developing his career he said he was looking to branch out into more commercial work.

Away from the office Mr Neil said the next step was getting partner Mandy and daughter Isabella settled in Whanganui "and getting out an about to see all the wonderful things that the Whanganui region has to offer".

A keen rugby player he will be running around on the rugby fields in the winter months while enjoying the odd game of tennis or cricket in the summer.
