Wanganui-born netballer Joline Henry was the people's choice of the Haier Pulse supporters as she was presented with the Fans' Player of the Year award at the Pulse's end of season dinner on Thursday night.
The 31-year-old mid-courter received more than a quarter of the votes in a recent pollon the Pulse's Facebook site.
It would have been a nice consolation for the vice-captain Henry after her team narrowly missed the ANZ Championship play-offs, ultimately finishing sixth. In the comments, Pulse fans stated her leadership, drive and determination on court as being the reasons she got their vote.
"Joline plays a pivotal role in the team mechanics on court," said Pulse chief executive Carolyn Young.
"Her personal commitment and drive are first class and it is no surprise that the fans have chosen her as their player of the year."
Henry will now turn her focus to earning another gold medal at next month's 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, as she and fellow expat Jodi Brown were named in the final 12-player Silver Ferns squad two weeks ago.
Netball at the Games starts on July 24, with the New Zealanders first game against Malawi the next day. In other Pulse acknowledgments, 2014 recruit Elias Shadrock was the recipient of the Players' Player award.
There was also recognition for veteran Irene van Dyk reaching 100 caps, while captain Katrina Grant, Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit and Camilla Lees reached 75 caps.
