Firefighters battle vegetation fire near Brunswick Rd

Multiple fire trucks are at a vegetation fire on a hillside in Whanganui.

Plumes of smoke can be seen over Aramoho as it drifts from the fire on Sewell Rd off Brunswick Rd.

Fire and Emergency are waiting for a helicopter to assist with a vegetation fire as the steep terrain is proving difficult for fire crews in attendance.

Two fire appliances and a water tanker are at the scene.

Fire and Emergency were alerted to the blaze at around 12.15pm.
