“We have a large high coming to dominate the country.”
The high currently sat to the west-southwest and would slowly push east, he said.
“So, as we go deeper into the week, things get calmer and more settled.
“There could be some cloud around but in the southeasterlies, they tend to clear in Whanganui.
“I would expect fairly nice days, especially in the afternoons.”
Temperatures were slightly cooler than average, with warm afternoons in the 16-18C range, but cooler overnight minimums holding steady at 4-5C through the week.
“It’s very much a colder autumnal feel, with those clearer days helping the skies radiate the heat of the day away,” White said.
Wednesday and the weekend would be the best days, he said.
“This area of high pressure is looking to stay; it’ll continue through into next week as well.
“Probably not until maybe Wednesday, Thursday next week that we start to see a change.”
