Whanganui's Tarbon Walker had to settle for second place for Superstock 600cc in all three races at the fourth round of the NZ Superbike Championships at Manfeild over the weekend.
The Superstocks are a smaller subgroup with their own points standings as they compete in the same races as theSupersport 600cc class.
In Saturday afternoon's opening race at Circuit Chris Amon, Walker finished 13 seconds behind Wellington's Dillon Telford, a international Superbike competitor, Walker's fastest lap was the tenth and last, which he completed in 1m 10.112s, but Telford had pulled down a 1m 8.8s lap on the fourth time around the circuit and would not be headed.
Hamilton's Zurrin Wiki would be another 12s back in third, and those placings remained the same in both the Sunday races.
Telford finished over 12s clear of Tarbon in the 15-lap second race in the morning, despite Walker getting faster with a 1m 9.436s run on the fourth lap.
The Wellingtonian made it a trifecta in the third race over 18 laps, although the winning margin was shortened as he only beat Walker by 6.993s on that occasion, while Wiki finished a lap down.
For the Supersport 600c, Rangiora's Avalon Biddle won the first two races while Te Awamutu's David Hall won the third race after coming third and second behind Biddle in the previous two.
Series leader Toby Summers, from Manukau, came second to Biddle in the first race, but then crashed twice, therefore falling 29 points behind Biddle in the overall season points tally.
The series concludes in Taupo this coming weekend.
Other class leaders after round four of the series are Glen Eden's Daniel Mettam (Superbikes); Palmerston North's Jacob Stroud (Supersport 300 class); Papamoa's Leon Jacobs (250 Production class); Jacob Stroud (Superlites); Whangamata's Ben Rosendaal (650 Pro Twins, provisional); Australia's Yanni Shaw (125 GP); Hamilton's Jesse Stroud (Gixxer Cup) and Christchurch's Dennis Charlett and Will Clim (sidecars).
